Getting Down with the Cats

Those of you who have been watching the BBC’s Land of the Lost Tiger documentary will no doubt have been absorbed in the vicarious thrill of catching a long-awaited glimpse of a real-life wild tiger. For those of you who haven’t seen the programme, it follows five passionate big cat enthusiasts – a biologist, a scientist, a wildlife photographer, an explorer and a camerawoman – who have heard rumours that Bengal tigers have been spotted in the mountains in Bhutan and decide to investigate this unlikely possibility. If the rumours turn out to be true, they hope that this could offer an incredible opportunity to reintroduce tigers into the surrounding areas, helping to save the species from extinction.

It is not often that you have the opportunity to see what the experience of wildlife film making is like for those behind the camera, planning the route, following the clues, setting the cameras… and, of course, the moment that they find what they are looking for. Watching these five watching the tigers, and their intensely emotional response to having found them, was utterly fascinating, and it made me realise just what an incredible, visceral, overpowering feeling it must be to stumble across such a magnificent animal in its natural habitat.*

All of which makes us even more delighted to impart this week’s thoroughly exciting campaign news. Remember when we told you we were planning a top-notch competition prize for an extra-special supporters’ draw?

Well, I can now inform you that, courtesy of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, we have secured the crème de la crème of experiences for tiger lovers, a fabulous 5-night stay for two people in two world-class luxury Oberoi hotels in Jaipur and  Ranthambhore, including a wildlife spotting Jungle Drive into Ranthambhore National Park… giving you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a wild tiger for yourself.
